Excessive Sweating- Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating can occur in any area of the body but most commonly effects the armpit region. This can have a huge impact on confidence and self esteem. Some men avoid social situations, wearing certain clothes due to the dreaded 'sweat patches' .With this excessive sweating can come bacterial colonisation and odour.

A very simple treatment using botulinum toxin injections in the arm pit region can significantly reduce the sweating for up to 6 months.

The procedure

The procedure is very quick, minimal downtime and works within 2 weeks.

Tiny injections are placed in the arm pit region where most the hair follicles associated with sweat glands are situated. These are placed at the very surface of the skin, so is extremely comfortable and has minimal side effects, as no major vessels or anatomy are close.

Treatments for Men

Superficial Chemical Peels

The glycolic/mandelic acid peel treatments take 20 minutes to complete, have minimum downtime and can be done in a lunch hour without anyone knowing a treatment has been carried out.

Skin will feel immediately fresh and hydrated after a treatment.

Peels minimise the amount of impacted skin cells lying on the skins surface, while delivering hydrating, firming, strengthening and brightening ingredients on the skin. Once the skin is free from its dull surface, any products applied topically will penetrate better and leaning the skin radiant and healthy.

Skin concerns that peels can treat are:

  • Acne

  • Pseudofolliculitis barbae (shaving bumps)

  • Uneven pigmentation

  • Dull skin

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Pores and blackheads

During the treatment the skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepped to allow optimal penetration of the acid. Protective barrier cream is placed around highly sensitive areas like the lips and eye region. The acid is brushed onto the face for up to 5 minutes. The acid is neutralised thoroughly and cooling towels placed on the face.

Hydrating PHA cream and vitamin-enriched serum is massaged on the skin, with a final SPF cream for protection.

There is a risk of redness and irritation, but redness and tingling will usually subside after 1-2 hours.

Most people will be able to walk out of the clinic fresh faced without any signs of treatment. If stronger acid peels are used there may be more sustained side effects.

Patients are advised to avoid shaving 24 hours after the procedure and avoid the gym/sauna for 48 hours.
